From several photos in the EHRG Photo Archive, we know that the little girl is Hope Walker, only daughter of Eric and Margaret Walker.

In the other photos of this event, (see KL133, KL134 and IB047) the identity of her 'groom' is not clear, but we had thought it might be Joe Tyrrell. This new addition to the archive shows him much better, so we should be able to match his rounder face up with one of the other boys in the village.

What still isn't clear is what event they are all celebrating. As bride and groom, with the groom in 'military' uniform, we might expect the village to be celebrating a royal marriage - but which one?

Hope was born around September 1931, so she might look 2 or 3 years old at this stage. From the warm sun, Hope's armful of flowers, but bare trees in the background, this event may be taking place in early spring of 1935. The only Royal weddings around this time was the wedding of Duke of Kent and Princess Marina in November 1933, and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in June 1937 - which may not have been a white wedding...
