For three years, from 1993 to 1995, Eydon was the finishing line for 'Wheels of Hope', a sponsored cycle ride from Oxford to Eydon.

This event held on Sunday May 1st 1994, was organised by villagers Cathy Hill and Jill Tcherniak, to raise money for cancer charities in memory of Jill's husband Jan.

Taking place over May Bank Holiday weekend, the first event, finishing at the Royal Oak, raised over £7,000. The following year, it raised £12,000 and the final year, which closed off the High Street to welcome the cyclists home, raised almost £14,000. In total over £33,000 was given to cancer charities, along with a special seat, now on the Village Green.

This picture shows the scene at Amos's Garage, the new finishing point as the Royal Oak was closed for refurbishment at this time. It shows Sarah and Sue McRoberts, with Sue's son Robert Lines between them, Unknown, Philip Leeson and Sue Kenna checking people in. Also visible are in the white shirt is Ramsay McDougall.
