Tyrrell’s shop as first built, with Flora Tyrrell in the doorway, 1926.
With her is her 9 year old granddaughter Dorothy Jean, Syd’s daughter, with her first bicycle. Jean later married Philip Charles and lived in Middleton Cheney. The shop was a haberdashery and shirts, blouses, socks etc can be seen hanging up in the window, along with cards of cotton, and ribbons etc. Syd Tyrrell describes the contents of the shop as… Upstairs over the shop, with its slightly bigger window, was the tailor’ workshop run by Flora’s husband, Joe Tyrrell.
