Tom Rogers
Tom must have kept himself fairly fit right up until his death as a family story tells of him, at the age of 88, picking up his walking stick and setting off to visit his son (Martin), who lived by the church in Byfield at the time.
It is said that he walked all the way there, sat in the chair by the fire and died on the spot. This might explain why the Eydon Church burial records have his address as Woodford Road, Byfield. Not where he lived but where he died!
