Syd Gooden with an individual cup winners small cup, presumably from one of their many cup victories in the early 1950s.

Syd was another of Eydon's star batsmen on that period, usually being highest or second highest scorer. He and Geoff Amos put held the club record for a second wicket stand of 118 not out, scored in 1952. Syd was born in Yorkshire and moved down to Woodford Halse in January 1949 where he worked as an engine fireman, and later as a driver. Despite earlier playing cricket for the Yorkshire Colts, he was initially only allowed to play in the Second XI at Eydon Cricket Club!
