Syd Gooden in a fielding stance, probably in the early 1950s.

Taken on same film strip and with same background as IB026 and IB030, so possibly taken after a 6-a-side competition somewhere. Despite having played with Yorkshire Colts in his youth, Syd Gooden was only allowed to play in the Second XI with Eydon Cricket Club and it needed a huge row between George Wilson, First XI captain and Teddy Hogg, Second XI captain, Syd's landlord and future father-in law, before Syd was allowed to show his considerable batting skill in the First XI.
