Late 1950s hand tinted view of High Street looking north from outside 5 High Street. Next door at the time (seen here on the left) was Sharp's shop. Slightly surreal scene as the red tiled roofs are painted green! Unlike today in the village, there are no cars parked along the street. Indeed when Mrs Mary Hawes came to the village in the late 1940s with her husband Jack, the Estate Manager, she remembered that there were only 6 cars in the village, 2 of which were at Eydon Hall.
