Rhoda was the first of Tom and Fanny Rogers three children to be born in Eydon, in 1885.

Here we see a studio portrait of Rhoda, maybe less that a year old, flanked by two boys. Given the family birthdays, these are probably her two closest brothers, Martin, born 1882, on the left and Fredrick, a big boy of 8 or 9 on the right. He seems to be holding a stick – a fishing rod maybe, or a whip? Notice that Martin is still wearing a gown, i.e. he has not yet been breeched. [For explanation of the occurrence and significance of breeching, see KL309.]
