By the early 1960s, the railways across the parish had closed, and tracks and other equipment were lifted in the mid 1960s.
Years later, the bridges over the local roads were demolished to save on maintenance costs. Here we see the old Great Central bridge on the Moreton Road being dismantled c 1980, helped by Stan Shenton in his big yellow digger on the bridge.
