He was generally known for painting seascapes and rocky coastlines often in Norway. But when he came to visit or to live in Eydon he painted several farmyard scenes of which this is one. It is the rear of what is now a much altered 5 Blacksmiths Lane. The Fitzgerald family was linked through marriage to both the Page and Stennett families who lived at 29 High Street.
