During the Second World War (1939 to 1945) special weeks were set aside for national fund raising efforts and Eydon, as always, took part.
This photograph of David Kench, then aged 10, at the rear of 20 High Street, is typical of the efforts that were put into for grand parades, competitions and entertainment during the week. The boat, a model of a motor torpedo boat, was probably made by David's uncle Fred Kench.
