Kath Edwards and Bill Allen's wedding reception in Eydon Village Hall, 27th March, 1948.
The wedding photo outside St Nicholas can be seen in KL155. Like her sister Wyn, Kath Edwards held her wedding reception in the village hall, still unlined bare concert blocks at this point. The groom, John William (Bill) Allen, was born in Byfield, son of a engine driver there.
By the time they married, Bill was a radio operator in the Fleet Air Arm. He was involved in the Berlin airlift and he worked in the Foreign Office and later gained diplomatic status. There are some documents regarding his postings at Bletchley Park Museum (www.bletchleypark.org.uk). He worked mainly at Hanslope Park and also the Juniper Hill training centre.
