John Amos led the singing in church before the organ was installed (in 1868).

The instrument is an Ophiclide, a keyed brass instrument, since replaced by the Tuba. How the singing went when accompanied by a bass instrument such as this we will never know! During the week, John Amos was an agricultural labourer. He died in 1885, aged 71.
