Possible postcard of High Street, Eydon, looking north Sept. 1898.
White lettering on front of picture, but no indication as to who took this picture (and the two either side). Taken outside the Post Office, then at what is now 7 High Street (see AP051e).
It shows the thatched roofs of the east side of the High Street, before they burnt down in the great fire of 1905. As befits a photograph of this early date, it is attracting a great deal of attention from the children of the village, the centre of which is enlarged in the next image.
