Fred & Joan Phipps outside their shop.
The shop has expanded and became double fronted in the early 1970s, with two large windows and the door in the centre. The windows display the full range that the shop sold at this time, in addition to tinned, dried & fresh food; there was household goods, crockery and cooking implements; coal; gardening requirements (changing seasonally); toys and games; cigarettes; newspapers, cream cakes - oh and they took in dry cleaning. The poster on the door for the Banbury Car Boot Sale suggests a date in autumn 1987. Fred and Joan ran the shop from 1960 to 1988, moving almost next door to the new development at the Old Rickyard and Bryan and Jayne Haynes took over the shop.
