The winning team in the 1939 League Final, with their cup on 3rd September. Presumably taken at Woodford Halse. Standing on the left is Charlie Parish (scorer), followed by Percy King, Harold Parfitt, Arthur Chapman, H. Anderson, and Ted Preece. Seated are Doug Whitton, captain Eddie Wilks, holding the cup, E Buckley and Teddy Kerbey. In front are Frank Parish and Ernie 'Pop' Castle. Eydon won against Culworth at a match at Woodford Halse, played over two weekends as rain stopped play when Eydon were only 17 for 1 wicket in reply to Culworth's 218 runs.
The following weekend Eydon picked up where they had left off, with Teddy Kerby (seated right), scoring a club and league final record of 129 runs to give Eydon victory. Britain declared war next day, which, as the club records state, was a rather extreme reaction to Eydon's win!
