Cabinet portrait of Elizabeth Malsbury Weston, (nee Watts), wife of Henry Weston who took up the tenancy of Manor Farm Eydon in the 1890s (see KL314).
She was born in Sulgrave, the next village to her future husband, in 1849, and married in 1871. When they moved to Eydon, they had two children still living with them, John Henry, born 1872, and Jane Elizabeth, born 1874, both in Helmdon.
In this picture, Elizabeth looks to be about 40 so it may have been taken c1890. The photographer, Anthony Beales and Co, had studios on South Bar from 1888, which were later taken over (before 1914) by Blinkhorns.
After Henry Weston died, Elizabeth continued to run the farm with the help of son John Weston (KL308) until some time between 1914 and 1920, when they gave up the tenancy. She died, aged 82, in 1931, at East Haddon and was buried in Eydon next to her husband and daughter.
