A view of the houses on the east side of the High Street after the Great Fire of Eydon, May 28th 1905.

This photo, published by J.H. Golby of the Post Office, Eydon, shows the gardens of 8 and 10 High Street. On the left are the remains of sheds and barns, also destroyed in the fire. Syd Tyrrell, who saw the fire as a teenager, remembers that Sam Spencer lost all his stocks of firewood, which is what we may be looking at the remains of here. Postcard marked "Fire at Eydon, May 28 1905" and "Copyright. Published by J.H. Golby, Post Office, Eydon."
