Hugely cluttered bar at the Royal Oak in late 1980s, seen from the serving hatch alongside the boiler. 
The hatch was the only access to rooms this side of the pub. The bar extended at the back of this picture to the right to serve the Snug. The pub was still owned by Annie Bricknell and run at this time by Derek and Anita Hettenbach. Extra staff were put on for the performance of a visiting blues band, the Over the Hillbillies.
