A view of the many people who came to view the fire on Sunday 28th May 1905 with the thatched roof of 5 High Street on the left and number 2/4 High Street on the right.

They were both near the source of the fire but the wind was blowing northward away from them so both managed to escape the fire. There is furniture on the side of the road taken out of the cottages and the hosepipes which stretched from the pool inside Eydon Hall park snake along the street as far as the top of Doctor’s Lane.
