Post: Seeing pictures KL053 and KL054 in the archive depicting the Bricknells. Am I right in thinking that Hannah Coy, born Eydon 1803, and who married Robert Taylor in 1825 was the daughter of John Coy and Elizabeth Bricknell? If that' is correct, are there any Bricknells still in the village as we maye be related. But distantly related. Six generations distant in fact!

Post: Susan you are correct through my research of my wifes Coy family, which has strong historical roots in Eydon, I have a Robert Bricknell b1759 in Culworth. His second marriage to Hannah Chapman took place in 1781 in Culworth and the following year daughter Elizabeth was born.
Elizabeth Bricknell married John Coy (b1781 Eydon) and they produced 9 children in Eydon, the first being John Coy (b1802 Eydon).
Hannah Coy (b1803 in Eydon) married Robert Taylor (b1807 Byfield) on 25 May 1826 in Eydon and became the Inn Keeper at the Royal Oak. Robert and Hannah kept up the family tradition and produced eight children of their own, the last of whom was Elizabeth Taylor (b1846 Eydon).
Elizabeth married William Herbert (b1845 Banbury) who also became the Inn Keeper at the Royal Oak.
Other connections to Eydon stem from my wifes great grandfather, John Kingston Coy b1856 who married Jane Elizabeth Ward born 1852 in Eydon. In fine family tradition, they also produced eight children in Eydon, one of whom, Hessie Elizabeth Coy b1879 married on 24 Feb 1912 in the Moravian Chapel, Alfred James Prestidge b1876 Eydon.

Post: Bricknell
Thoams P Edden born 1832 Eydon married Emma England, (after his first wife died), in 1871 at Banbury. Emma was the daughter of James England and Diana Bricknell.
Thomas and Emma had two children, Evelyn Emma Edden born 1874 and Harry James A Edden born 1877.
Hope that this helps.
Moderator's Comments: Have later heard from Karen Walsh that the Bricknells have strong links with Culworth (2 miles south of Eydon) from at least 1734 when Thomas Bricknell was born there. This might be the source of the odd Bricknell name that crops up in the village records.
